A heads up for Canberrans…

Double demerits are now in effect across the ACT and New South Wales for the Labour Day long weekend.

Locals caught speeding, using their mobile phones, not wearing a seatbelt and riding a motorcycle without a helmet will be slapped with 10 demerit points and a fine.

Double demerit period ends on October 5.
