ACT Policing were busy across the weekend, with a number of speeding drivers intercepted and slapped with demerit points and fines.

On Thursday night, officers observed a car travelling at 114km/h in the signposted 80 zone on Horse Park Drive, Throsby.

The 17-year-old Bonner man held a provisional driver licence and was issued with a traffic infringement notice, and 4 demerit points.

In two separate incidents on Friday night two young men were fined after being caught speeding, with one of the drivers going 109km/h in a 70 zone.

Early on Saturday morning, officers intercepted a car after detecting its speed at 129km/h in an 80 zone, with the 23-year old driver having his license suspended for 180 days.

ACT Policing reminds all drivers that speeding and impaired driving significantly increases the risk of serious injuries or fatal collisions on our roads.
