A leading epidemiologist has predicted Australia will hit 50 COVID deaths a day as more transmissible variants become dominant.

The ACT recorded 3 deaths in yesterday’s reporting period, with 87 people in hospital including 1 in the intensive care unit.

Professor Adrian Esterman says it’s only going to get worse.

“Not just death rates we’re seeing another wave starting,” Professor Esterman said.

“Increases in hospitalisations, and it’s only going to get worse.”
