There could be a simple reason behind claims that Canberrans are charged to use public transport on “Fare Free Fridays”.

The scheme was an election commitment from Labor, and was introduced last year, promising free public transport for locals every Friday for a year… but many say, they’re still being charged.

Transport Canberra has been investigating –

It’s found, in some cases, it was a banking transaction from the day before.. on a Thursday, that showed up on a Friday.

As it continues to investigate – those who see the Friday transaction are being encouraged to contact Transport Canberra.
