Garbage Drivers turned down an offer of 8.3 per cent over three years, instead pushing to receive a 12 per cent pay rise over the next three and a half years.

Industrial action was planned for Friday but will not go ahead, and with notice required workers can’t walk off the job.

Drivers are currently paid more than $37 per hour, after receiving a 3.4 per cent pay rise in April this year, making them the best paid drivers in Suez Nationwide, according to the company.
