The ACT Government has announced it’s progressing plans to remove the fire-damaged building at 91A Wakefield Gardens.

A Development Application has been submitted for the demolition of the building, which was severely damaged by fire last year.

Demolition of the structure is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, pending DA approval.

More than 380 people provided feedback on the future use of the building during a six-week consultation period last year.

While the damaged structure itself is not heritage listed, Wakefield Gardens precinct is heritage listed, and demolition and remediation works will be undertaken with care to protect the site’s heritage values.

The community can view the DA submission and lodge comment until 20 May via the Planning Authority.
