Government Foreshadows EV Plan

The ACT Government has announced plans to become the first jurisdiction in Australia to phase out internal combustion engines.

The ban will apply to the sale of new cars, motorbikes and small commercial trucks from 2035, with the government hoping sales of new electric vehicles will hit 80 to 90 per cent by 2030.

Part of the plan also includes having 50 government funded electric vehicle charging points to be finalised in the coming weeks, which will cost $1.9 million dollars.
