The ACT Greens have thrown their support to Summernats, following a number of incidents over the weekend.
Party leader Shane Rattenbury admits, while it isn’t for everyone, Summernats can be a place of connection and belonging.
Mr Rattenbury responded to incidents of burnouts at the car festival, saying anti-social behaviour displayed was disappointing, but doesn’t point to the overall culture of the event.
According to ACT Police, two arrests were made on Saturday, and 13 vehicles were seized across the four days.
He also spoke of environmental concerns, saying he would like to see more electric vehicles in the high octane event, with talks on the cards to make it happen.
