Residents in the Crace, Mitchel Palmerston and surrounding areas are being advised of hazard reduction burns taking place.
Billows of smoke has been seen emanating from the Barton Highway, Gungahlin and Gundaroo Drive areas.
Multiple crews are in attendance, the burns will continue to take place throughout the day.
In the meantime, a 600 hectare hazard reduction burn will be undertaken in the Southern area of Brindabella National Park tomorrow (Saturday).
Smoke will likely be seen for some distance, people are being asked not to call triple 0.
