A 35-year-old man has been charged after allegedly threatening a resident with weapons during a home invasion on Saturday night.

About 11.30pm on Saturday (2 September 2024), the resident of a home in Deakin was allegedly confronted by two men armed with a hammer and knife who had forced their way inside.

The two men demanded the resident’s car keys and wallet, punching him twice during the incident, before fleeing the scene in a grey Mitsubishi Triton ute and a black Nissan Navara ute.

The matter was reported to police early on Sunday morning and officers conducting a patrol in Holt located the Mitsubishi Triton in front of a residence.

Police spoke to the occupants and after reviewing CCTV footage from the home invasion, arrested the 35-year-old man.

A 35 year old was charged with aggravated burglary with the intent to commit theft and aggravated robbery in company.

Investigations into the identity of the second man are ongoing and police ask that anyone who has information relating to this incident, including CCTV or dash cam footage from around the area, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
