Housing Market Showing Signs Of Cooling Off

The housing market in Canberra appears to be slowing down after a small increase in February.

House prices in the Territory increased just 0.3 per cent, compared with 1.8 per cent in January, taking the median house value to $1,031,410.

Unit prices out performed houses, seeing a 1 per cent increase for the month, compared with 1.3 per cent in January, bringing the median unit value to $602,475.

Head of Research at Core Logic Eliza Owen says it’s been a sustained period of growth for Canberra.

“Even this increase across the ACT has values sitting 24 per cent higher over the last year,” Owen said.

“The market has seen about 31 consecutive months of growth.”
