Hundreds of Canberrans are being caught using their phone while driving.

It follows the introduction of new technology, that includes three mobile cameras and two fixed devices.

Haydon Drive has registered the highest rate of those being caught using their phones behind the wheel, with Flemington Road the second most prevalent, just ahead of Horse Park Drive.

However, the government has said it may not be until next year that people will face fines, with warning notices expected to be issued in the coming months.
