Independent Building Commissioner Rejected By Government

Of the 48 recommendations made in the Legislative Inquiry into building quality issues just 12 of the 48 have been agreed upon with four of them rejected outright.

The inquiry called for the establishment of an independent building commissioner, which would oversee construction in the Territory, that recommendation has been rejected, with Minister Rebecca Vassarotti claiming the industry already has enough oversight.

There was also a rejection for the suggestion that would see display homes to have the same building quality as the development they represent.
