Indigenous Incarcerations

Share:

The ACT Attorney General has admitted the territory government hasn’t done enough to tackle high incarceration rates for Indigenous people.

An independent review was announced by Shane Rattenbury.

Mr Rattenbury says there are many factors that lead to high rates of Indigenous incarceration, including poverty, access to housing and good medical care.

He says these are big impacts, but they also need to look at the justice system.

The report will be split in two parts, the first will be delivered in May.
