The Snowy Mountains Bush Users Group has lost its legal challenge to stop the shooting of brumbies from helicopters, in the Kosciuszko National Park.
Hearings were held in July and the judge handed down his decision today, dismissing the case.
As part of its legal loss, the group will have to pay the government’s costs of defending the case.
Previous estimates from the NSW Government, showed there were more than 20,000 wild horses in the park, which it says, poses a risk to the delicate alpine ecosystem.
