Canberra’s Nick Kyrgios returns to Wimbledon next week, but not on the court.
It’s NOT the role the Canberra local had been hoping to perform… but he’ll take it.
The 29 year old’s been offered a commentary position with the BBC – along side John McEnroe and Tim Henman…..
But the broadcaster’s had to defend complaints from viewers about his inclusion.
In a statement, the BBC says Nick Kyrgios will provide insight and analysis of the action on the court from his experience in the game… his comments will be tennis only.
Qualifying is underway – Wimbledon’s due to begin next week.
It comes as Kyrgios teased a big sporting code switch, suggesting he was considering stepping into the boxing ring.
Speaking on an Instagram Q&A, Kyrgios was asked if he’d ever take up boxing.
“Yeah I would, at the end of my tennis career,” Kyrgios said.
There are a couple of people I’d call out.”
The Canberra native has been sidelined by a horror run of injuries
