This comes after the territory government announced 18-point-9 million dollars in funding for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The ACT Bar Association and the ACT Law Society issued a joint statement this week, welcoming the announcement for the DPP, but said they have grave concerns about the lack of funding for Legal Aid.

Bar Association President Prue Bindon said the difference in funding risks undermining the functioning of the justice system as a whole.

The statement said Legal Aid will be unable to meet demand under persistent funding constraints.
