A 56-year-old Chifley man will face court today after allegedly making multiple nuisance calls to Triple Zero and 131 444 between Friday and Sunday.

It’s alleged the man called Triple Zero but hung up before speaking and became verbally abusive towardsoperators when they called him back to confirm his welfare.

The man was told to stop calling Triple Zero unless it was an emergency but he allegedly continued to make nuisance phone calls.

About 11:20am on Sunday, police attended the man’s home in Chifley and arrested him.

He has been charged with 10 counts of making vexatious calls to emergency services.

ACT Policing is reminding the community that It is an offence under ACT and Commonwealth legislation to make a false report to police and to cause police or other emergency service resources to be wasted.

Inappropriate use of the Triple Zero (000) number can delay emergency responses to those in genuine need.
