A 54-year-old Gordon man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of his elderly mother in July last year.

On 1 July 2025, emergency services attended a home in Gordon and found a 74-year-old woman, who was in extremely poor health and living conditions.

Paramedics transported her to hospital, but she sadly passed away the next day.

Police allege the 54-year-old man, who was the woman’s full-time carer, failed to provide adequate care over an extended period and failed to seek medical assistance for the woman despite her significant and worsening health conditions.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court on March 10, charged with manslaughter.
