A 33-year-old man has been charged, after allegedly assaulting his prospective housemate on Sunday evening.

About 5pm on Sunday January 4, the man and a woman had dinner at his home in Bruce before she planned to move in.

Police allege the woman fell asleep and when she woke up, the man was allegedly assaulting her in his bed.

About 11:30pm, police were called to the residence for a separate matter.

After speaking to the woman, she was taken to hospital and he was arrested.
