A man has escaped jail time over a glassing incident in Woden.

The assault took place in September 2022 at a school reunion event.

CCTV footage played in court – showed the 40 year old man holding the victim’s neck with one hand – and smashing a glass into his face. THE judge declaring, it’s beyond doubt, the victim did not provoke the attack.

But – instead of jail, the judge sentenced the man to a suspended 14 month jail term, with two years good behaviour, after the 40 year old made a strong case for successful rehabilitation.
