A 34-year-old man has been charged with fraud, burglary and driving offences after allegedly using stolen bank cards and failing to stop for police.

In April last year, police allege the man used bank cards stolen from vehicles in Canberra’s north, with police arresting the man in May before releasing him on bail.

On 7 October, police received reports of two men in a stolen black Mazda 3 driving into an underground carpark and smashing a car window.

It is alleged that the driver of the Mazda 3 was the 34-year-old man. 

A warrant for his arrest was issued after he failed to attend court in relation to the use of stolen bank cards.

Enquiries identified the man was serving a sentence in a NSW prison and following his release on April 12, he was extradited by ACT Policing officers on April 13 to Canberra.

He is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court April14 to face fraud, attempted fraud and stolen property offences that were laid in May.

He will also be charged with aggravated burglary, driving a stolen motor vehicle and failing to stop for Police when directed to do so.
