More details have emerged about the discovery last week of an unexploded device on the side of the road in Tuggeranong.

It’s now thought, the device about 45 years old….

– and A.C.T. Government official says it was probably used for land-clearing purposes… used well before the territory achieved self-governance….

It was a small undetonated explosive, found more than a week ago, along Isabella Drive – between the Monaro Highway and Hambridge Crescent.

Federal Police brought in the bomb squad which disposed of the item… which officials say, was dangerous, but was a low risk to the community.
