Moruya man facing assault charges

A second man has been charged with an alleged affray in Moruya over the weekend.

On Friday last week, officers were called to a home on Evans Street following reports a man was attempting to break into a home.

Police were called and attempted to arrest the 33-year-old, however, it’s alleged a group of about 20 people surrounded the officers attempting to hinder the arrest, one of them coughing at the officers.

Capsicum spray was used.

The two men police were attempting to arrest fled the scene before one of them returned a short time later and gave himself up.

The other man, also 33 was arrested at a home in Braidwood yesterday afternoon.

They face a number of charges, inquiries are continuing.
