Namadgi Huts

Authorities have confirmed, they won’t be re-building historic alpine huts in the Namadgi National Park, damaged in a bushfire, more than 5 years ago.

The NSW Parks and Wildlife Service was committed to rebuilding alpine huts but the ACT Heritage Council opposed rebuilding them.

City and Government Services Minister Tara Cheyne said the cost would have been significant, and it would have taken “years and years, particularly given the remoteness” to reconstruct and maintain the huts

The huts are in remote parts of the Namadgi National Park… and were damaged in the Black Summer fires.
