National Gallery Undergoing Major Renovations

Major renovation works are getting underway at the National Gallery of Australia.

Being called one of Canberra’s most expensive projects, the works will see a wide range of repairs, including renovating the front entrance, and addressing a leaking roof.

The works are estimated to cost around $220 million from federal funding, something the gallery and politicians have been advocating for.

Director Dr Nick Mitzevich says the work will future-proof the gallery.

With the works already underway, the gallery will see renovations last for at least a couple of years.
