Police have thrown the book at an ACT provisional driver -allegedly caught drink driving and speeding more than 60km/h over the limit.

The 20 year old motorist was allegedly caught Friday night while officers patrolled Cotter Road in Curtin.

It’s alleged, they observed a blue volkswagen utility being driven at 143km/h in an 80 zone.

Police followed the vehicle through Yarralumla where officers say they witnessed the driver lose control of the vehicle on a bend.

The car was eventually stopped and the motorist was breath-tested, allegedly returning 0.049.

He’s now facing a string of charges and was issued a court attendance notice on a date to be set.
