The formal opening of Parliament has been held, ahead of the usual chamber business dealings marking the start of the 48th Federal Parliament.
The scene witnessed veteran MP’s and fresh faced senators gathering in Canberra.
The day began with an ecumenical service at a Wesley Uniting Church followed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese jumping with the business day.
Speaking with reporters, Mr Albanese said “Every day is an opportunity to deliver for Australians and this week we will have legislation to do that…. We’ll continue to work hard each and every day in the interest of Australians.”
The Prime Minister holds a majority in the house after winning 94 of the 150 seats in Parliament.
