It’s anticipated from this week – thousands of mobile phones and other devices across Canberra won’t work as the 3G Network shuts down..
Here’s the confusion – some 4G ready phones are now being considered as “NON COMPATIBLE” with the 4G Network, despite Telstra shop staff telling some customers, they’ve got nothing to worry about.
It’s because of the bandwidth involved
- some 4G Phones have been sold by Telstra and other companies that USE a higher than normal bandwidth – but it turns out, Telstra’s 4G network won’t use that bandwidth – and the promises of a working phone after this week are rubbish.
3G in Tasmania will but shut off today (Monday October 28th) – other cities will follow this week
Mobiles, Eftpos medical devices, vending machines, cars, tablets and security systems across Canberra are at risk – thanks to the 3G shut-down, but it’s now been revealed, thousands more using the higher 4G bandwidth are now at risk.
Vodaphone was the first telco to turn off their network last year with Telstra and Optus following suit
