Police are investigating a possible cat shooting in Canberra after a woman found her pet badly injured on Saturday morning.

Maddi Holz has told the Canberra Times she woke to find her hallway floor and walls covered in blood – before discovering her three-year-old cat seriously injured at the side of the house.

The cat’s leg had to be amputated, with the vet saying “metal fragments” had been found in the wound.

ACT Policing says evidence is being obtained to be forensically examined.
