Police say they’re shocked at the number of Canberrans who could not look after themselves on New Years Eve.

23 people were taken into custody for intoxication – others failed roadside for drink person.

One person recorded a reading of  0.141 – that’s nearly three times the legal limit.

The number of fights that resulted in injuries was also high.

Police inquiries continue into under-age drinking at Lake Burley Griffin events,  with further actions possible.
