Police see reduction in calls regarding family violence

ACT Policing say the rates of family violence during the latest round of lockdowns have mirrored what happened during last year’s restrictions.

Police have been seeing a reduction in the calls for assistance regarding family violence.

However Officer in Charge of Family Violence Acting Inspector Chris Smith says their partner agencies have reported an increase of inquiries for information.

He says many victims don’t feel comfortable calling for assistance when perpetrators of family violence are home all of the time.
