ACT Policing has finalised an internal practices review into the response to the alleged assault of two young children at the Belconnen Shopping Centre this month.

Police allege a man unknown to the children approached them on August 14, knocking over both of them before kicking them.

An investigation began two days later, with an 18-year old man arrested and charged.

The review was finalised on August 22, finding the matter wasn’t appropriately triaged or prioritised, and identified opportunities to improve training and operational call taking processes.
