Protestors have staged a demonstration on the Parliament House forecourt in Canberra.
Hundreds of protestors waving indigenous and Palestinian flags have marched right up to the doors of Parliament House – sitting down here on the forecourt outside.
Dozens of federal police have formed a line between the demonstrators and the building’s doors – visitors trying to leave had to be diverted through the carpark.
Demonstrators have held signs reading no pride in genocide – and calling for national day of healing.
Speakers have condemned today as invasion day or sovereignty day – demanding greater rights for First Nations people, along with an end to the war in Gaza.
