Push for School Zone on Canberra Avenue

The principal of St Edmund’s College and ACT Roads Minister are at odds over the need for a school zone along Canberra Avenue.

Principal Joe Zavone is calling for a school zone to be enforced during peak times along Canberra Avenue which would improve the safety of St Edmund’s and St Clare’s College students who often dash across the busy road.

ACT Roads Minister Chris Steel says school zones generally operated on roads with direct active school frontages and noted Canberra Avenue is an arterial road with limited school frontage.
