A report card’s been released on figures relating to those caught with drugs in Canberra, since the introduction of new laws.
The government has revealed – 70 people have been caught with small amounts of illicit drugs in the ACT since reforms were introduced on the territory’s drug laws.
According to the minister responsible:- Emma Davidson – the majority decided to undergo a drug diversion program.
Under the new laws, people caught with illicit drugs within an allowable limit won’t be charged –
instead, they can choose to pay a $100 fine – or be sent to a drug diversion program.
