Researchers estimate up to 16 thousand Canberra renters could be in debt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A report from Better Renting has found close to one million renters could be suffering across Australia.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, every jurisdiction except the Northern Territory banned evictions for renters who were suffering financially.

The report is now prompting calls for any rental debt accrued during the pandemic to be cancelled.
