Sentencing Delay

Sentencing has been delayed for a woman, behind the wheel of a car that hit a pedestrian at a Canberra bus stop.

Proceedings began last Friday in the A.C.T. Magistrates court – The incident occurred in December last year in which the driver swerved onto the wrong side of the road on Ngunnawal street. The victim received minor injuries.

While there’s no suggestion, she’d been speeding or intoxicated, the magistrate has taken exception to repeated claims by her lawyer, that it was a sudden swerve, and she was in full control.

Footage, played earlier in court, tells a different story.

The magistrate adjourned the sentencing – to allow for a court duty report.

The driver is set to learn her fate later this month.
