The NBL has confirmed Canberra will host the in season Ignite Cup as well as the Andrew Gaze MVP awards, thanks to a new partnership with the ACT government.

AIS Arena will host a new twist on the concept, with the tournament now set to conclude with a four team Ignite Cup Finals series across two nights of basketball in February.

NBL Group CEO David Stevenson says the Ignite Cup has quickly become one of the standout innovations in the NBL.

“Introducing a Final Four series and bringing it to Canberra is a fantastic evolution of the competition. Fans will experience a festival of basketball, with the best teams battling it out over one incredible weekend for the biggest prize pool in NBL history.

The Andrew Gaze MVP Awards will be presented from the Great Hall in Parliament House, marking the first time they’ll be presented outside Melbourne in more than a decade.

The Ignite Cup Finals series will see four teams competing for a share in the largest prize pool in League history of $400,000.
