Canberra will see five solar energy battery hubs being built by mid next year.
Under the plan, Canberrans will be able to draw on stored electricity generated by solar panels
It’s part of a one-and-a-half million dollar Federal Government grant to install community batteries in the capital.
The batteries are about the size of a small van –
They’ll produce up to 160 kilowatts of power and store up to 400 kilowatt hours of energy.
By April next year, the ACT Government and energy provider Evo energy wants them installed in Dickson -Casey – Gungahlin -Fadden and Tuggeranong.
