A new survey’s found, Canberrans could be paying a so-called “Loyalty Tax” for not switching supermarkets.
The study from the Economic Research Institute shows the loyalty of shopping at the same store over long periods of time… no matter if an opposing outlet is offering cheaper prices.
Researchers discovered, it was either habit or convenience that 81 percent of shoppers used just the one supermarket chain.
Loyalty programs were another factor.
The study’s found, the government needs to intervene, to allow price comparison websites to offer the cost of groceries on a store by store basis.
