A 17 year old man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted a bottle shop employee during a violent robbery in Woden last night.
About 6pm last night, a teenager allegedly entered a bottle shop in Woden armed with a wooden baseball bat.
The teenager is alleged to have struck the employee multiple times with the baseball bat while demanding cash from the store.
As the employee tried to move away, the teenager allegedly struck him again before taking a bottle of alcohol and leaving.
ACT Ambulance Service paramedics attended a short time later and treated the employee before he was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
About 6:35pm, police located the teenager at the City bus interchange. Police will allege he resisted officers during his arrest.
During a subsequent search, officers allegedly located a knife in the teenager’s possession.
