Tuggeranong Assaults

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and possible mobile phone footage following a series of unprovoked, serious assaults in Tuggeranong.

About 1.35pm on Friday (31 May 2024) a 13-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by two teenage girls as she exited a bus in Erindale. The 13-year-old suffered significant injuries from this assault, including having her braces dislodged.

Then, about 3.20pm on Saturday (1 June 2024) police responded to reports of several more incidents within the Tuggeranong Town Centre allegedly involving the same two teenage girls as well as other juveniles.

These include the alleged assault of an elderly man and staff in Big W, and the alleged assault of another 13-year-old girl at the Tuggeranong bus interchange. This 13-year-old victim also suffered significant injuries as a result of the assault, including spinal fractures.

The two girls were located and arrested nearby a short time later – they faced court on Monday (3 June 2024) charged with joint commission assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police have already spoken to a number of witnesses, however would still like to speak to anyone who witnessed these incidents who have not yet spoken to police.
