Two people have been charged after a firearm seizure in Belconnen.

Around 12.40pm yesterday, police directed a black Nissan to stop in McKellar, however it began to drive towards the police vehicle.

Officers deployed a tyre deflation device, deflating one tyre before the vehicle fled.

A short time later, it was found abandoned and at 1pm police arrested a 22 year old woman and a 24 year old man in Evatt, who police allege had been travelling in the car before it was abandoned.

During searches conducted after the arrests, police found a firearm, two tasers and more than 10-thousand dollars in cash, with further enquiries leading to the recovery of another firearm in McKellar.
