Unregistered Vehicle Fines Double


The number of people fined has doubled compared to 2019, with 1,056 fines handed out, the number of fines handed out for those without a licence also reached over a thousands.

It’s a $675 fine for a driver to use an unregistered vehicle, and the average fine for driving without a license is an infringement notice worth $534.

ACT Policing recently added the state-of-the art Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology to a police motorbike in an Australian first trial, making it even harder for unregistered drivers to evade detection.
