Wastewater Drug Count

Continued wastewater testing around the country shows an increase in cocaine consumption and meth use. – and the A.C.T. is not exempt.

It was just last year that a wastewater report found Canberra had the 2nd highest use of heroin and oxycodone.

A fresh report now shows a 19 percent surge in cocaine consumption – and a 17 percent increase in the use of meth across Australia – compared with figures from a year ago.

However, there was a 7 percent drop in Heroin consumption.

Authorities say they’re concerned about the rise in meth consumption, considering the significant harm it causes in the community.

Surprisingly, the tests found a alcohol use had dropped nationally, over the past 2 years.
