The ACT Electoral Commission has released the amount of political donations given to Canberra’s political parties in the 2022-23 financial year.

The Canberra Liberals received the highest amount in cash donations, with over $250,000 given.

That is over $200,000 more than what ACT Labor got, which totalled $56,000.

However, Labor had the highest number of contributions, with a total of over $1.2 million.

Donors to ACT Labor include Transport Minister Chris Steel, and Chief Minister Andrew Barr.

The largest donor to the Opposition was the Minerals Council of Australia, giving over $5,000.

Other political parties that received donations include the Belco Party, Canberra Progressives and the Animal Justice Party.
