A woman who says she was stripped searched in front of male inmates at the Alexander Maconochie Centre says she will sue.

The woman wrote a latter in January detailing the incident, remarking how staff dressed in full squad gear, entered her cell and forcibly removed her clothing while in front of five male inmates.

She also detailed how she’d been the recent victim of a sexual assault and how this incident made her experience all the more horrifying.

The woman remains on remand since September last year on multiple charges, her lawyer telling the ACT Magistrates Court she’ll pursue legal action against the jail.
