A 27-year-old Waramanga woman has been charged after allegedly deliberately lighting a number of grass fires in Fisher and Chifley yesterday.
About 3:50 yesterday afternoon, police were called to Chifley following reports that a woman had deliberately lit a number of grass fires.
It’s alleged that she used a gas-powered blowtorch to deliberately light at least four fires in Fisher and Chifley.
A member of the public witnessed the woman start the fires and attempted to stop her but she allegedly assaulted him.
The 27 year old woman was arrested later in Chifley, and two of the larger fires were extinguished by ACT Fire and Rescue.
The woman will face court today charged with act to cause public alarm and common assault.
