Woman drowns on South Coast


A woman has died after being pulled from the water at a beach on the NSW south coast.

Emergency services were called to Congo Beach near Moruya yesterday afternoon after reports a woman and a boy were stuck in a rip.

A nearby surfer assisted them both back to shore, where they were pulled from the water by witnesses.

Witnesses commenced CPR, but the woman died a short time later.

She’s been identified as a 50-year-old from Sydney.

The 10-year-old boy was assessed by paramedics and was uninjured.
